Client: Frowny Face Records
Frowny Face Records, founded by Frankie Nicole, is an indie record label working to promote local musicians within Southern California. Their Musician Resource Database has helped music professionals find a wealth of information varying from venues to recording studios. The brand taps into a blend of harlequin aesthetics and traditional retro visuals inspired by Downtown Pomona, CA, where the label was founded.
Objective:
What was once a very small brand has now begun to flourish into something bigger. With that growth has come the challenge of brand recognition and cohesion when outsourcing work to designers and collaborators. Frowny Face needed a more distinct logo and brand, along with a document that could assist in maintaining its distinct style.
Solution:
This label would need a logo along with a recognizable icon to establish more immediate brand recognition. In addition to this, the brand would then need style guidelines to help assist other creatives make Frowny Face assets that match their aesthetic. This project was a collaboration between Claire Tzo and JTB Media. Claire was responsible for creating the main logo icon, while J. created all derevative works and brand guidelines.
